Fever (temperature above 100.4°F / 38°C) is common in children and is usually caused by viral infections. In most cases, it settles within 3–5 days.

If your child is active, drinking fluids, and playing between fever episodes, it is usually not serious.

What You Can Do

  • Give paracetamol 15 mg/kg if uncomfortable

  • Encourage fluids

  • Keep clothing light

  • Monitor activity and urine output

See a Pediatrician Immediately If:

  • Baby is less than 3 months old

  • Fever is above 102°F

  • Child looks dull or unusually sleepy

  • Seizures occur

  • Breathing difficulty

  • Fever lasts more than 3 dayS

Avoid starting antibiotics without medical advice.
